Fan Fests

To make sure that as many people as possible can enjoy the 2010 world cup, South Africa’s nine world cup host cities will be hosting various FIFA Fan Fests or public viewing events. These events will allow football fans who cannot afford a ticket or who did not get the ticket they wanted to enjoy all 64 matches free of charge.

The official FIFA Fan Fests – ten in total – will be organized by the host cities,  FIFA, and the Local organising Committee. Although some cities have to decide the exact location of their Fan Fest or Fan Park, most host cities already know where the events will take place

- Cape Town – The FIFA Fan Fest in Cape Town will take place in the Mother City’s city center, and on the Grand Parade in front of City Hall. The square has received a thorough facelift, and has a maximum capacity of 30.000 people. Please click here for the agenda and line up of concerts that will take place every day.

- Durban: The official Fan Fest in Durban will be held along the beachfront promenade and near the brand new Moses Mabhida Stadium. There will be space for 25.000 people.

- Polokwane - The location of Polokwane’s Fan Fest is the Polokwane Cricket Club, a kilometer from the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The venue will be able to accommodate 20.000 people.

- Bloemfontein – The Mangaung Outdoor Sports Centre will serve as the venue for the FIFA Fan fest in Bloemfontein. The centre has a maximum capacity of 20.000 football fans and is situated in the township of Rocklands, about 15-minutes drive from Bloemfontein’s city centre.

- Rustenburg – A primary school was chosen as the venue for the Rustenburg FIFA Fan Fest, with the epicenter of the event being the Fields College cricket oval. The Fan Fest will accommodate 20.000 people, who will be able to watch the 64 matches on various giant screens.

- Johannesburg – Johannesburg will be the only South African world cup host city that will boast two FIFA Fan Fests. The first one will take place at the InnesFree Park in the north of Johannesburg, near Sandton and the township of Alexandra InnesFree park can accommodate up to 10 000 soccer supporters. The second Fan Fest venue in Johannesburg is situated in the south of the city at the Elkah Stadium. This venue can host up to 20 000 people.

- Port Elizabeth / Nelson Mandela Bay – The Fan Fest in Port Elizabeth / Nelson Mandela Bay will be held at St Georges Park.
