The famous Golden FIFA World Cup Trophy - one of the world's most prestigious sports prizes.

With the Golden FIFA World Cup Trophy touring the world, it seems that it’s next stop is Zimbabwe’s capital of Harare. As Robert Mugabe is the country’s president, he is the only Zimbabwean who may touch the  Mother of all trophies.

“Only heads of states and former winners are allowed to handle the solid gold,” a representative of the Local Organising Committee said. “Lucky fans will have the opportunity to have a souvenir photo taken with the trophy.”

This means that Zimbabwean Vice President Morgan Tsvangirai will miss the boat as well. But perhaps he has received one of the 3 500 tickets that have been made available to football fans to attend a special photo session? This event will take place at the Harare International Conference Center on November 27 2009 – one week prior the Final Draw of the 2010 World Cup – where the  Trophy  will be displayed.

The trophy’s 225-day tour commenced at FIFA’s headquarters on  September 21, 2009, will cover 86 countries and is expected to reach the host country of South Africa on May 4, 2010. The total distance the tour will travel is 134,017 kilometers.
