Me & Twenty10: 2010 media passes!

As I have said, I am totally totally TOTALLY hyper for the Final Draw! Or as my boyfriend said: You are Final Draw befok! I used to be a 2010 skeptic, I have to admit, but not any more! I can’t wait for the world’s eyes to be focused on Cape Town – my beloved city!

Today I got one step closer to the Final Draw of the 2010 World Cup, which takes place in Cape Town on Friday December 4! Media accreditation from the city of Cape Town was rather painless, I must say. And very efficient! So City of Cape Town: Thank you! From the bottom of my heart! It’s always nice when things are going smoothly!

In the meantime, the city is working around the clock to make sure everyone and everything is ready for the Final Draw, which is expected to draw thousands of people to Cape Town. It is said that some 200 million people around the world will be watching the revealing of the match schedule of 2010 FIFA World Cup on television! Amazing!

The Safety and security strategy with regards to the Final Draw seems to be in place, the streets are decorated with 2010 World Cup flags, and a Final Draw Festival is being planned on Long Street. This of course means that some roads in Cape Town will close or will be partially closed for traffic. And that is becoming a bit of a nightmare. Luckily I have a scooter, which means that I am pretty mobile regardless  🙂

About these road closures for the Final Draw in Cape Town: I have written a blog post on it already, but decided to give you an overview in any case:

* Road closures Final Draw event at Cape Town International Convention Centre: * There will be intermittent road closures on the Foreshore in the area of Lower Long Street, Coen Steytler and Cullinan Street (from 09:00 on Monday November 30 to 05:00 on Monday December 7)

* Road closures Long Street 2010 music festival: * For the Long Street Festival, there will be a partial closure of Long Street from Buitensingel to Buiten Street only (from 13:00 on November 30 to 05:00 on December 7). Although these roads will be closed for traffic, pedestrians will still have access to sidewalks.

* There will be road closures in the area bound by Queen Victoria Street, Green Street, Buitensingel, Loop Street and Dorp Street (From 01:00 on December 4 to 12:00 on December 5).

On-street stopping or parking will not be permitted on Long Street from Buitensingel to Buiten Street from 18:00 on Wednesday, December 2 until Saturday, December 5 at 12:00.

NOTE: Buiten Street, Bloem Street, Pepper Street, Leeuwen Street, Wale Street, Keerom Street and Vredenburg Lane will also be affected.
