A whooping 700.000. That is the total number of  applications FIFA has received so far for tickets for the 2010 world cup football. According to FIFA the applications are coming from 170 countries world wide.

The ticket sales for the 2010 FIFA world cup, which takes place in South Africa in June and July 2010, are currently in the third phase.  About 1 million tickets were made available during this phase, which will end on January 22, 2010

FIFA has stressed that it does not matter whether you apply for your world cup tickets today or as late as January 22: each correctly submitted application will have the same opportunity of being successful in the draw scheduled for next month.
