About Me

My name is Miriam Mannak, and I am a freelance journalist, writer and photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. One of the topics I have covered extensively over the past years, is how South Africa is preparing itself  for  the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.

I have followed the various political debates around the World Cup soccer,  written about the different 2010 related social projects, covered issues around  2010 FIFA World Cup related infrastructure that is being developed, and I have spoken to South Africans of all walks of life about their opinions, thoughts and feelings with regards to the FIFA Soccer World Cup.

In other words: The FIFA  2010 World Cup has played and is playing a big role in both my professional and private life. It has been doing so since 2004, when South Africa won the bid to host the event.

Being an optimist and completely in love with my host country – I was born in  The Netherlands, raised in Rwanda and Angola and moved to South Africa in 2004 – I am sure that the 2010 World Cup Soccer will end up in the history books as the greatest, most fabulous FIFA World Cup – and perhaps sports events in general – ever hosted.

With this blog, I’d like to share with the world – from an insider’s perspective – what is happening on the ground, as well as my extensive expertise and knowledge with regards to the event.

If you have questions with regards to the world cup, of if you perhaps need my 2010 expertise as a journalist, writer and photographer, please do not hesitate contact me.

Hi Miriam, well done to you. Should you need assistance from a local woman passionate about soccer and the 2010 Football Great Event you may contact me. You must be having a ball of a time working in this majestic ‘must visit’ Cape Town Mother City of ours. Did you attend The Soccer Festival Inaugural Debut Derby match between AJAX CT vs. Engen Santos at the new Cape Town Stadium on 23/01/10? It was just great and all went well. SOMOHO TOURS & EVENTS ran a competition to win tickets to attend. See pics on Facebook Business.
Ps. Is your site FIFA accredited as I note the Fifa Emblem?

      Hi there,
Thanks for your comment on my blog! Its great to know that it is being read! No, unfortunately, I was too late with tickets for the game last weekend 😦 But the pictures pole made were awesome! What else are you guys doing for the World Cup? PS: My site is not accredited, but that is okay because I am not making money with my site. Maybe to be sure, I will remove the emblem 🙂 Thanks 🙂

    Hi there,
Thanks for your informative blog. Keep up the good work. Do you know how we could get in contact with the World Cup Court? Do you have a phone number or web address? My boyfriend who is here as a tourist for the World Cup has been harassed and we need to open up a case urgently.
